Contribution of Money

The Committee for a Safer Michigan gladly accepts direct contributions of money from legal sources in the form of cash ($20.00 or less), check, money order or credit cards. Contributions should be made payable to The Committee for a Safer Michigan, and mailed to 2930 E. Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48207.

In-Kind Contributions

In-kind contributions including goods, services and facilities provided to the committee at no cost or at a discount are useful and appreciated.


We are currently accepting donations online via PayPal.

Federal law requires all online contributors to confirm that the following statements are true and accurate. If you cannot confirm each statement, you are not eligible to contribute to Committee for a Safer Michigan.

1. This contribution is made on a personal credit or debit card or PayPal account for which I have the legal obligation to pay, and is made neither on a corporate or business entity card or account nor on the card or account of another.

2. I am a United States citizen or a lawfully-admitted permanent resident.

3. I am making this contribution with my own personal funds, and I will not be reimbursed by anyone for this contribution.

Contributions from corporations, national banks and federal government contractors are prohibited. Employees of these types of entities are still able to contribute using their own personal funds.

The Michigan Campaign Finance Act prohibits the following contributions:

  • Anonymous Contributions
  • Cash Contributions over $20.00. Cash contributions of $20.00 or less may be accepted and must be reported in detail with name, address, date and amount of each contribution. This requirement includes money received through the sale of political merchandise, fundraisers or through any other source.
  • Earmarking: A committee may not accept a contribution with the agreement or arrangement that the committee will transfer the contribution to a particular Candidate Committee.
  • Foreign Nationals: The Federal Election Campaign Act prohibits Foreign Nationals from making any contribution or expenditure (including independent expenditures) in connection with any U.S. elections.
  • Contribution in the Name of Another: A person shall not make a contribution by any name other than the name by which that person is identified for legal reasons.

General Contribution Guidelines

  • A contribution of $20.00 or less may be received in cash.
  • A written instrument is required for any contribution over $20.01
  • A written instrument of $100.01 or greater must include the following information:
    • Name
    • Address
    • Occupation
    • Name of Employer
    • Principal place of business (address)

Any contributions that do not meet the statutory recordkeeping requirements must be returned to the contributor.
